A great read if you play baseball or hockey
John did a great job
New insight into officiating sports
This book shines a light on not only verbal abuse but also the physical abuse towards umpires and officials of minor sports.
It’s a good behind the scene look at what officials have to put up with from not only the players but also the fans for little or no pay. It’s a good book to read for anyone thinking about becoming a referee or umpire of amateur sports and what they will have to give up. I’m actually surprised that the author did officiate as long as he did, what with all the ups and downs of the games.
I’d recommend reading this book to anyone interested in sports.
Well written
Extremely well written and provides plenty of insight into officiating
Well done.
Well done. Sharing your experiences and thoughts on the officiating in amateur sports will be great read for officials past and present. A good guide book for those starting out and validation for those since retired.
I enjoyed reading it
I really enjoyed reading it for a couple of reasons, I could relate to a lot of the situations from a players point of view, but never looked at it from the official’s.
